Comprehensive Eye Exams in Old Bridge, NJ
A comprehensive eye exam does two jobs. It measures how well you see so we can write or update a prescription, and it looks at the health of your eyes. Some eye conditions cause no symptoms early on, which is one reason regular exams matter even if your vision seems fine.
What happens during an exam
We ask about your vision, health history, medications and daily habits (screens, driving, work).
Your vision is tested at distance and up close.
Dr. Kenneth D. Manning, O.D., a New Jersey licensed optometrist, checks how your eyes focus and work together, and examines the outside and inside of your eyes.
We talk through the results and what they mean for your glasses or contacts.
Our office uses new equipment. Exams are with Dr. Manning by appointment.
What to bring
Your current glasses and/or contact lenses (and the box or prescription for contacts).
A list of medications and any eye or health conditions.
Your vision or medical insurance card.
Questions. Write them down before you come.
How often? Frequency depends on your age, health and risk factors, and your eye doctor will advise you. If you have new symptoms such as sudden vision changes, eye pain or flashes of light, don’t wait for a routine visit; contact a doctor or seek urgent care right away.
Exam, glasses and contacts in one place. After your exam you can choose eyeglasses or start a contact lens fitting (a contact lens exam is a separate step from a glasses exam). Not sure what your plan covers? See vision insurance.
