Reel Optics NJ is an eye doctor’s office and optical store at 2553 County Rd 516 in Old Bridge, New Jersey. You can get an eye exam, choose frames, order eyeglasses or ask about contact lenses in one visit, with the people who will help you afterwards.

Getting your eyes checked and picking out glasses are usually two separate errands. Here they are one. Our eye exams tell you where your vision stands and give you the prescription you need. Then you can walk to the showroom and find frames that fit your face, your budget and your daily routine.
Our showroom is about 1,200 square feet, with frames from many designers on display. You can try pieces on, compare shapes, and ask questions without pressure. Eye exams are performed by Dr. Kenneth D. Manning, O.D., a New Jersey licensed optometrist. Our opticians, Richard and Mila, help you choose frames and lenses. Mila has more than 30 years of experience and Richard has about 7, and our team cuts and fits your lenses in Old Bridge. Read more about us or see the brands we carry.
We are on County Road 516 in Old Bridge, in Middlesex County. Patients also come to us from nearby towns. See our pages for Old Bridge, East Brunswick, Perth Amboy, Woodbridge, Sayreville, Matawan and Manalapan, or browse all areas we serve.

Yes. You are welcome to bring a current glasses prescription from any licensed eye doctor and choose your frames and lenses here. Prescriptions do expire, and eyes change, so if yours is older or your vision feels different we may suggest a new eye exam first.
Contact lens prescriptions are separate from glasses prescriptions. If you have one from another office, please ask us about it before you order.
An eye exam does more than update your glasses. Some eye conditions, such as glaucoma and diabetic eye disease, can develop without early symptoms, and an exam can find changes before you notice them. Your prescription can also shift gradually, so seeing clearly today does not mean you will next year.
How often you need an exam depends on your age, your health, whether you wear contact lenses and your family history. Many eye doctors suggest a yearly exam for contact lens wearers, people with diabetes or high blood pressure, and older adults, while others may be fine with an exam every two years. Dr. Manning can tell you what is right for you. Read more about what to expect at an eye exam.
We accept most major insurance plans, and benefits vary by plan. Send us your plan name and we will tell you how it applies before your visit. Our vision insurance page explains how to check your benefits, and our guide shows how to use them.
An optometrist, like Dr. Manning, is a licensed eye doctor who examines your eyes, checks your eye health and writes your prescription. An optician helps you choose frames and lenses, takes your measurements and makes sure your glasses fit. At Reel Optics you can do both in one visit.
Our team cuts and fits your lenses in our Old Bridge lab. The timing depends on your prescription and lens choices, so we will give you an estimate when you order.
Yes. Contact lenses need their own exam and fitting, which is a separate step from a glasses exam. See our contact lens fittings page, or ask about a renewal exam if you already wear contacts.
Yes, our showroom includes children’s frames and safety eyewear. If you would like to schedule an exam for your child, send us a message and we will let you know the ages we see.
Yes. We can make sunglasses with your prescription, including polarized lenses. Learn more on our prescription sunglasses page.
